Ethiopian Airlines has officially unveiled a significantly revamped domestic terminal at its hub in Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD). The newly expanded terminal, now covering an impressive 25,750 square meters (277,170 square feet), has doubled in size and is equipped with a host of enhanced facilities designed to elevate the passenger experience to new heights.

As the primary connecting hub for Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive domestic network, the terminal supports 22 destinations with over 200 daily flights. The expansion, a testament to the airline’s commitment to service excellence, has doubled the terminal’s size and baggage handling capacity, ensuring smoother operations and greater efficiency.
The upgraded terminal features state-of-the-art airport systems and modern amenities, including:
- Four contact gates and ten remote-departure gates
- 22 check-in counters with an automated hold baggage screening system
- Self-check-in kiosks and a modern security screening system
- A premier passengers’ lounge
- Various additional airport facilities and amenities
These improvements streamline passenger flow, enhance comfort, and elevate the travel experience. Ethiopian Airlines highlighted these advancements in a statement, noting their commitment to offering top-tier service.
CEO Mesfin Tasew emphasized the importance of the new terminal in the airline’s broader initiative to modernize and renovate aviation facilities across Ethiopia. “This remodeled terminal is a significant addition to our efforts, especially as demand for domestic travel continues to grow,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Ethiopian Airlines has announced plans to introduce new domestic flights from Addis Ababa. This includes upcoming services to Nekemte, set to commence thrice weekly, and the reinstatement of daily flights to Axum.
With these enhancements and new routes, Ethiopian Airlines is poised to strengthen its domestic connectivity further and provide passengers with an improved travel experience.
